    Shad Spawn

Anyone care to share some info on shad spawn, particularly on Douglas and Cherokee? I think it's about time for it to start. How long? Mostly at night? Any info appreciated
  3. I caught a long skinny LM on Cherokee last night. Some are pretty thin after the spawning and took a few days to get back to being hangry. SM get hangry and LM get hungry. The fish I caught was about 3 lbs. My pal had a 4 lber and another friend had 2 over 4 1/2. All LM and all skinnier than a fence rail. But they're biting . Short trip after work but if a guy had all day........................

    Ft "Nasty" bass

Dada, next time try a Pit Boss made by Berkeley . It's a bit different than a brush hog and is a good alternative when you're pal is using brush hogs. LOL That's a good bunch for only 2 hrs! I might want you to guide me but no alligator harness LOL
  5. Was a spare. Mine was being repaired. I'm not one to abuse my stuff but I do use it. This was a first for me. Running about 50mph and thought WW3 was starting up! Shaking the whole boat violently. Was slowing down for ramp so I was close. Had been way up French Broad.

    Hey Rusty

Tell me about long tailed boats. Don't use to many big words so I don't have to look them up LOL

    Hey Rusty

This is an interesting set up. Getting in dirt shallow water and banging in rocks would be hard on a prop? Is there an advantage to having a longer or shorter shaft?
  10. Went exploring the Nolichucky river about 6 last night. Fished a bunch of flooded brush with no takers. But it was interesting as I fished places that were new to me. Did manage a 2 1/2 lb LM on a chatter bait. !st fish on that bait for me. My pal had a nice one on buzz bait in weeds on French Broad. New areas as well. Definitely not places for the recreation boaters LOL

    Hey Rusty

Yup. Saw that in one of your pics. Are they as gas thirsty as some of the jet drives? looks like fun

That looks like fun, those things pull like a freight train! Ah, the boat. Is that apparatus also called a mud motor? very interesting and thanks for the pics.

Big hybrids is something I don't see much, but I'm bass fishing. We see some whites up to 2-3 lbs. Catch em on inline spinners.

Welcome. You might try reading some of the trout posts. Seems to be several here who fish for trout.

    Douglas Saturday

Wind was howling, air temps upper 40's, and lake was like slipping through a minefield! Colder than a hooker's heart. And on top of that, it's Saturday and unless it's a little tournament I usually stay home on Saturdays. So we had a little 10-15 boat tournament LOL Caught 3 bass for no money in a 3 bass tournament. Got cold, got wet and made a donation---hard to beat that! If any of you fine patrons of this board decide to go----beware the lake is full of floaters.

    Douglas 5-21

Muddy creek about 7-10. 82 degree water temp but the days are getting warm. Likely in shallow water where I stubbornly stayed, difference 10 degree from daylight to dark. Been catching fish shallow all spring from bedding areas to 1st secondary points coming out to main channels. Caught 6 last night but they all were under 13 inches. Still dragging old ball and chain and shakes heads. Gonna have to fish deeper, I reckon.

    Be cautious

If you are going to mix it up with the Memorial Day crowd, be careful. Saw one really big tree floating down at Dandridge from the bridge, yesterday. I might go for a while late today, might not, but up river past Leadvale I'll go. Enjoy the holiday and remember the veterans.
