    navionics or lakemaster chips

The Navionics platinum chips are much better if you plan to use it to fish structure, humps, etc. and a cheap lakemaster chip is decent for basic navigation, my lakemaster doesn't show alot of humps and underwater islands and depth changes like a navi platinum chip does.

One of my bucket list fishing trips is a trip to WI while the monster trout are running in the Milwaukee Harbor, has anyone been there and fished it?

I wish I could find one of those 30+ inchers, I've 4 in the boat at 28" or better but no 30"ers or double digit lakers. I may have to try new spots/techniques or try South Holston. Funny thing I find about lakers is that they can be pelagic at times and roam randomly in 150+ feet of water and then find other fish in shallow water on the bottom, so patterning active fish is sometimes tough. I've even had a friend catch one on topwater one night out there.

8+lbs took 1st, 7+ got 2nd, and 6.15 lbs got 3rd on the lake trout and two rainbows at 4.5 lbs tied for 1st on the rainbow side. It was about too hot to fish from noon on and the big ones definitely didn't bite too well today.

Last year was a slow bite and the previous year had high winds, so this year might be better. You don't have to fish the whole day, Tom said you can register later in the day and fish till 7, you should fish it, as soon as you don't you'll land a big one.

I'll be there, yes weather looks like there may be a few pleasure boaters out and a little hot, but its usually high winds if its not calm and sunny.

TVA posted it will be installing the new generator on South Holston this fall. I'd say South Holston will have better water conditions this weekend, Watauga has a lot of floating logs and debris from all the rain and high water. I'd say both lakes are a little stained from the algae blooms.

I was on Watauga evening before the rain hit Saturday to do some walleye fishing, water was almost up past the handrails on the pier at rat branch. Ended up with two bass and a flathead before the rain.

The Garmin tech team was out there mapping the lake this weekend, so detailed maps of the lake should be out in the next few months. The water is still a little stained with the algae bloom and fish have moved a lot deeper perhaps with the high pressure system, I marked a few fish below the 100' mark, ended up catching and releasing one laker around the 28-30" range at around 60-70 feet

They're probably Storm Hot N Tots, I used to troll with them on Watauga, they're great fish catchers.

I went yesterday evening, water is a little stained on the lower end, but not enough to deter fishing. Fish were holding a little shallower than usual, we ended up catching several nice lakers and a walleye in the 20-40 foot range.

Yes, I believe so. That's what's good about Watauga, even in the heat of summer a quick dip will cool you off.

You guys should try out the monster trout tournament on Watauga Lake this June, I believe its on the 16th out of Fish Springs.
