    Roanoke Rapids

I can't say that I've experienced that many here but I sure would love to! When striper fishing we're normally using fly rods so 3 or 4 in the afternoon has always been great for me. One of these days I'm going to try the live bait. Bought a tank last year but have yet to use it... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Roanoke Rapids

Headed to Weldon Nc and fished the Roanoke River for the famous striper spawn. The river was 7-8' high according to the locals and running 20,000 cfs compared to the "ideal" 4-5000. There is definitely a lot of fish there. We marked them constantly on the sonar. We went with the intentions of catching them on fly but with that current it was just too difficult to get it down 20-30'. Had to use live bait at $10 a dozen. We caught around 40 on Friday. Most were 20" range and some smaller. According to everybody fishing those are nice ones. Glad I went but probly not something I would try again. If you want to be in a parade of boats bouncing bait on the bottom and catching that size fish it's the place to go I guess. We never even took a picture! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Caught a giant Smallmouth today

Nice!! Congrats Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Well the first three trips in the new ride the trolling motor was getting water in the shaft and running out the head. Called motorguide and since it was outside of 30 days had to take it to a service center. Long story short...7 weeks later I get the trolling motor back. Fished the holston Thursday afternoon and Sunday. Catching some nice smallies. A few 17 and 18" and 1 19". Went to the steam plant last night in hopes to find some hybrids. Caught 1 at the dam and some whites above Hugh B Day bridge. Anybody know if the hybrids and whites have already made their run? I'm afraid I missed it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Sunday 2/28

I'm no help on that Trophy. I mostly spider rig or fish minnows and flies under bobbers. I've seen some charts on the web that shows weights, line weight, speed and distance that may help you get close. Don't know where I seen it but I would say Google trolling line depths and you should be able to find something. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks Dada. I've experienced that as well. Unfortunately my work schedule doesn't allow for that too often. I certainly like to take advantage of it when I can tho. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Fished Douglas Sunday. It was Muddy. Muddiest I have ever fished it. Started out in muddy creek about 11. By 3:30 we had caught two crappie. Wind was picking up and finally decided to head to Indian creek. Water was slightly clearer. Caught fish much better. Ended up with 15 I'm guessing. All but two or three were good size keepers but didn't keep any. Caught them spider rigging with flies tipped with minnows. Most fish were around 12' and scattered. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    LED lighting

I picked up some LED strips from eBay. They were around 10 bucks for 5 meters. Lights up the inside great. Not real sure how far they would shine out tho. They are pointed straight down in the pics. They are bright. They are the 5050 style as mentioned in an earlier post. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    My Fishing Machine Rebuild !

Lookin good! You certainly have done a lot of work. It'll pay off and be very nice! eBay is a good source for lighting. I put LEDs in all compartments and all around the deck for very little money. The padding you are talking about is nice. I've been in a boat with camo hydroturf. Nice stuff and not too terribly expensive. I went with Seadek. It's pricey but you have more options. Keep us posted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Thinking About Saturday

Nothing to worry bout on Boone really. It's easily navigatable. It is 10' lower than usual winter drawdown. As Rusty said Pickens is your only choice they are working on some more ramps tho. I can't help you as far as fishing. I haven't been out but know people are catching them. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
